Morning Free Flow...Let's get moving!

Boundaries are placed for a reason. Respect them!

Unfortunately if I say its too warm out, my family will tell me "It's only 80F and that's not hot". How do they know?

Shade Trekking with 80 yr old Father

It's hot enough! We waited a bit to long this morning. I dressed is an ultra cool t shirt, shorts and wet bandanna around neck. I felt ok in shade and though it was only one mile or so, I was tired.

Shade trekking with 80-yr old dad ...I used to walk this street to grade school every morning. Always loved it....

Here is m and dad in background. Need to link to video.
Usually cats are "Lost" in our area due to coyotes. This lucky guy found himself a stylish photographer....
This area al burned during the "Station Fire". We were blessed to not have any winds or we would be gone...
Final loop, back to house. Love this route. Grew up here. Lots do shade trees nice for MS and
90F temperatures....
Stay shady...

Interviewing Buck at Sundance, now time for MS

I am fortunate to have interviewed Buck Brannaman twice. Once at Sundance Film Festival in 2011 after the world premiere of his movie, "Buck". The second at a Buck horsemanship clinic in Pasadena, California, 2012. I am also fortunate to have been to Sundance several times.

Click here for My review from the world premiere of Buck. For those who don't know, Buck Brannaman is an excellent horseman brought about from a rough childhood. Many call him a horse whisperer. The documentary about him, Buck the film can be followed on Facebook. His message of compassion and common sense is exactly what the multiple sclerosis community needs. And Sundance is the perfect venue to kick start such a message.

Here we are at Dolly's Bookstore in Park City, Utah, after a book signing. This was just the start for Buck. The movie was a huge success and he travelled the world promoting it along with film director Cindy Meehl. The whole female team behind this film is incredible.

It was beautiful in Sundance that week. I had a great photography adventure on this trip to Park City. More photographs here...
Not much beats a picnic, good friends and a snow time at friends cabin in Alta, Utah, resulting in a great way to say #takethatMS!

So, What can we do to get a movie about multiple sclerosis to Sundance? Because that's what we need. To take some talent. An idea. And spread the word from the highest mountain with a little help from Hollywood...

To start, let me introduce you to Chris Cox. He rox. And can be found at www.chriscoxrox.com. He has a documentary in the making about multiple sclerosis called The Mudd Farm.

Check out the trailer. Brought tears to my eyes. Diagnosed myself some twelve years ago it still amazes me as to how many folks know nothing about MS. We need to change that. And this documentary could be one of those tools to get this message out.

Check it out and let's see how we can send MS to Sundance!

Happy Labor Day USA!

And Take That MS!

Puddles the Duck Before MS

I was fortunate during my stay in Eugene, Oregon, (1990's) to be the part of Puddles the Duck for many community events. Here we are in Portland, Oregon, opening a new Bi-Mart store. It took a bit of practice to walk around in those giant duck feet. In fact this older Puddles was much bigger and clumsier than the newer, push-up peddling Puddles. And whew! I could never have done those push ups even prior to MS...

I was nicknamed "Disco Duck" by veteran announcer and "Voice of the Ducks", Jerry Allen. Before he retired he was the play by play announcer for the Ducks and we often appeared in public together. I liked to dance. Thus Puddles liked to dance.

I worked at an ad agency and for several start up companies at the time and gave frequent guest lectures at University Oregon at the Journalism school and the MBA program. I was on the list to become an adjunct professor. Loved working with university aged folks. But then I was called away from Oregon and not much later became devastated by the MS. Life changed and here we are!

So, Let's go Ducks! win the Day! Take That MS!

On a Roll with Cooking...on a roll with MS

With temperatures nearing 100F it's necessary for this Girl with MS to hide in the A/C. Which can mean good things. Like art, cooking, creative stuff. Not all fun has to be had outside.

And once again the bounty of our local gardens is amazing.

Today I experimented with a recipe that my father found in the Wall Street Journal #WSJ weekend edition, 17-18 August 2013.

The Tomato Tarte Tatin from the Belle Meade Country Club in Nashville. With a bounty of homegrown heirlooms, this seemed the perfect dinner side dish. Click here for the recipe.

Here's the progression:

My heirlooms were huge so used less. And they were very juicy. Maybe too juicy. It turned out beautiful but once I flipped it the juices made the crust pretty soggy. Love the flavors and will practice with this concept.

All I can say is #TakeThatMS! I'm off to eat....

Dragon Dictation has Mind of its Own

So, I'm trying out the Dragon dictation software. Interesting. Hoping I could transfer my audio clips to paper using Dragon. I did a test this morning with part of a yoga session. This is what I got:

"Morning yoga session ended up this letter is threatening to turn text to my knees cement out of some ratios stretch an average guy lifting chest cavity in the spray days of a variation of time to test my hands behind my back stretched down and out after lifting my chest I also stretch the hamstrings I prayed to my guy this way and I opened up to"

Will have to work on this....

In the meantime, enjoy our angels trumpet tree in full bloom.

Cooking away the MS

Oh heavens the fresh produce in our area!

First it was the jam...

I cooked this up good and well. Didn't grab a photo of it so follow the photos on the recipe site.

I Found the recipe on Pinterest - Fresh Fig and Strawberry Short Batch Jam Recipe. Definitely a keeper! Only three ingredients. I'm going to try another jam soon.

Time to eat!
