1. COOLING DEVICES
Many MS patients suffer from severe heat sensitivity. There are numerous cooling devices on the market. Here are some that work great.
Nano-Ice makes some awesome cooling necklaces! The use of a well made cooling device is well worth the few bucks they cost. Simply place it in the freezer to get cold. After you take it out of the freezer the cooling effect lasts for hours.
Vests range in price from $20 to almost $400, so there is quite a variety. One of the best reviews of these vests is available at Healthline.com. The vests use different ways to cool the body. Some are based on beads that absorb water and create a cooling effect. Others have a more complicated system with cooling packs that are added to the vest.
Some of the popular vests are:
|Arctic Heat $220|
These handy little Cool Off wipes can cool one down in an instant. And they make great stocking stuffers!

Massage Sessions! - anything to pamper the patient in a healthy way is much appreciated!
JOURNALS / COLORING BOOKS
- MS Patients like to write things down as it helps with memory loss and cog-fog. Any and all journals can be used and make an inexpensive gift. BUT please make sure your MS friend has dexterity and can use these gifts. Electronic recording may be easier for them! Shop smart!
- Whether your friend likes to cook or work outside, safety gloves can help build confidence and keep those fingers attached!
|clothing by Christopher and Banks|
- Found a cool blouse to give your MS friend? If your friend has difficulties with dexterity look for easy on/easy off clothing. Be careful of too many snaps or small zippers. Christopher and Banks makes an "Easy Wear, Every Where" collection and talk about easy! I have a few pieces and they are so comfortable that I tend to wear them everywhere. It looked a bit odd a couple of weekends ago when I was camping in Trona Pinnacles in black and red sparkled shirt.
And remember to enjoy the Holidays!
